F.A.Q.

Third European International Prize of Sacred Architecure 2009:

Q: In the announcement, it is recommended to send 5 copies A3 format of the tables. I would like to know if it is possible to send more and if in case it implies a penalization during the judgment.

A: It’s only for organizational reasons that we ask to send 5 copies that better show and explain the project. There’s no penalization if more tables than requested are sent. If the candidate thinks it is absolutely fundamental, he/she can send more tables in order to better define the project. If possible, it is also allowed to send a short video of the model of the church in 3D.

Q: If the attachment is too heavy, is it possible to send it split in different e-mails?

A: If the attachment is heavy it is possible to split it in different e-mails. Please be careful to add in the object of the e-mail the number of the e-mail; for example: Prize Frate Sole 1/5, Pirze Frate Sole 2/5 etc.., Prize Frate Sole 5/5.

Q: Is it requested or suggested a minimum resolution for the tables before turning them in pdf documents?

A: The resolution must be 300 dpi.

Q: Does the  report have to be an abstract  of the thesis or is it allowed to modify it in order to be in line with the maximum number of pages requested?

A: The report must be the one of the dissertation; cuts are allowed.

Q: I’ve read the announcement and since I took my degree with a thesis about restoration, in particular about the re-functioning and requalification of a country chapel,   I would like to know if it is also allowed to participate with a thesis about restoration.

A: Your thesis is not a project of a new church, therefore you cannot participate in the competition.

Q: The reports requested must be sent only by e-mail, in pdf format?

A: For efficiency’s sake, everything must be sent by e-mail.

Q: Should I have Jpeg  A1-format tables (200dpi) is it correct to reduce them to A3 (200dpi) pdf document and send them?

A: The format of the reports must be A3 – 300dpi – pdf format; this will enable a clear visualization and any eventual publication.

Q: It is not allowed to send anything by normal mail, isn’t it?

A: We also accept materials sent by registered post within the deadline of the prize.

Q: My thesis is about the analysis of a project and the setting up of the transfer of a small religious building for preservation reasons. How is my work classified? is it within the categories inside the prize or is it considered outside?

A: We are sorry the European Prize of Sacred Architecture is only for projects of new churches.

Q: The thesis considered “outside the prize” are subject to the rules of the prize (delivery date, copyrights, etc)?

A: Yes, the rules are the same. I would like to know if on the tables it is necessary to put the letter heading used during the dissertation of the thesis or a dedicated letter heading for the prize without any name or  reference to  people.
Anonymity is not requested.

Q: The material you request for the prize is less than the one I’ve prepared for my master: the tables suggested are 5 while I have 15; is it necessary I page everything again?

A: It is allowed to re-page, provided that the new work contains only the material used for the thesis without any  alteration.

Q: The letter heading of the tables of the thesis quotes the title, the year, the university, etc.., is it necessary to maintain this letter heading or shall I head the tables with the name of the prize, etc..?

A: If the tables are re-paged, it is not necessary to maintain the same letter heads.

Q: Out of the 15 tables I have, shall I chose only 5? This will be difficult because of the importance of each table.

A: We ask to send only the 5 tables that better explain the project only for efficiency’s sake. Should you consider it absolutely necessary to send more in order to better define the project, you can do that.

Q: Anonymity is not necessary, isn’t it?

A: No, we do not request it.
