The International Award of Sacred Architecture "Frate Sole", instituted with the aim of stimulating awareness of the need for excellent churches and with the intention of giving active encouragement to their construction, is assigned every four years, on 4th October, festivity of S. Francesco d' Assisi.
The winner receives the "Ciel d'oro", a sculpture planned from Fr. Costantino Ruggeri and realized from Vincenzo Mangiarotti for the International Award "Frate Sole" with money reward. Constructed in aluminum, the "Cieldoro" represents a sphere (the earth) in whose center is stable a church that, upsetting the world, exits from the human borders in order to rise itself to the sky. |
