The prize-giving ceremony for the Second European Prize of Sacred Architecture |
| On October the 4th 2007 the prize-giving ceremony for the Second European Prize of Sacred Architecture – edition for Degree and Master dissertations – took place in the conference hall of Palazzo Broletto in Pavia. |
Before the Authority, Father Costantino Ruggeri, founder and president of the Foundation Frate Sole, was commemorated with the help of Monsignor Giovanni Giudici Bishop of Pavia, the Mayor of Pavia, Piera Capitelli, and the architect Luigi Leoni, member of board of directors of the Foundation. Later, the prize winners presented their works: the architect Marchesi the project of a new church in Cuscu in Peru and the architect Gabriel Nariño the project of a parish complex entitled to S. Carlo Borromeo in Roma-Tor Pagnotta. We would like to thank Professor Luigi Franciosini and the architect Lorenzo Valla for attending the prize-giving and compliment them for the presentation of two projects deserving the second prize. Afterwards the winners of the second edition of the European Prize of Sacred Architecture explained their projects: the architects Sebastiano Adragna and Alessandro Mauro. They presented their dissertation project discussed by the Faculty of Architecture of Siracusa (Università degli studi of Catania) with the professors Bruno Messina and Vittorio Fiore as supervisors. The winning project is a new parish centre in Villasmundo (SR) arisen from a real need of the community Then the architect Giuseppe Maria Jonghi Lavarini, as a member of the board of directors of the Foundation Frate Sole, read the reasons for the prizes to the architects who collected the Prize presented by the engineer Vittorio Vaccari, Secretary of the Foundation. After the buffet, an interesting debate conducted by monsignor Arosio started from the winning project and developed by examining the Italian situation of the contemporary sacred architecture.

We thank once again the local government of Pavia that allowed us to use the halls of Palazzo del Broletto for the activities of the Foundation Frate Sole.
