Church for the Future: the workshop on liturgical architecture at the Politecnico di Milano
From 5 to 14 February 2025, the School of Urban Architecture and Construction Engineering of Milan Polytechnic hosts the fourth edition of the workshop 'Church for the Future'. This training event is dedicated to the conception and design of new religious spaces within the Milan-Bovisa North Campusas part of a wide-ranging urban transformation project inspired by principles of innovation and sustainability.
The workshop is distinguished by its interdisciplinary approach, involving 22 students selected from different academic backgrounds. The aim is to stimulate reflection on theevolution of liturgical architecture in contemporary cities, exploring the relationship between spirituality and urban spaces.
A key aspect of the initiative is the link with the Drop Parkan industrial area undergoing redevelopment. Through the integration of new buildings and the experimentation of advanced design solutions, the workshop intends to propose innovative models of religious architecture capable of responding to the needs of modern society.

Speakers at the workshop include the participation of thearchitect Luigi Leoni, who will speak on 6 February to deepen the role of thesacred architecture in the urban context and in the design of community spaces. The meeting will provide an opportunity to discuss new trends in the design of religious buildings.
Thanks to the contribution of experts in the field and the workshop's practical approach, students will have the opportunity to develop projects capable of integrating tradition and innovationresponding to the challenges of contemporary architecture.
