Art and Theology - The Faces of Relationship
Cairoli College Chapel, Pavia

The Frate Sole Foundation is continuing the path dedicated to the centenary of the birth of Father Costantino Ruggeri (1925-2025), Franciscan friar and artist who was able to transform spirituality into a visual and architectural language, offering the contemporary Church spaces of light, harmony and contemplation.

After the exhibition I volti della Crocifissione (The Faces of the Crucifixion), which can still be visited at the Chapel of the Sacred Heart in Pavia Cathedral, the Foundation presents a new stage in the journey:
'The Faces of Relationship', scheduled at the Cairoli College Chapel, with inauguration 17 October 2025 at 5 p.m.

The exhibition is an ideal extension of the previous one.
If in The Faces of the Crucifixion the focus was on the mystery of suffering and salvation, The Faces of Relationship takes the gaze to the heart of dialogue: that between human beings and that between man and God.

At a time when authentic relationships seem to get lost - in friendship, in love, in mutual trust - Father Costantino Ruggeri's art returns to speak to us of the generative power of encounter, of the capacity to recognise the other as a mirror and a revelation of self.
It is a relationship that moves between eros and agape, between human desire and spiritual gift, and that finds its fullness only when it becomes openness, listening and communion.

The exhibition is not just about exhibiting works: it is itself an experience of relationships.
Every painting, every colour, every pictorial gesture becomes a gateway uniting author and spectator, space and community, human and divine.
Art thus becomes art of the heart, a universal language that reconciles distances and brings man back to his most authentic and communicative essence.

Father Costantino Ruggeri has always conceived art as an act of communion: in his works, matter is transformed into light and beauty becomes a pathway to mystery.
His spiritual and artistic research - nourished by encounters with Franciscan tradition, nature and contemporaneity - still invites us to reflect on an idea of beauty that unites and enlightens, without possessing.

With I volti della relazione the dialogue between art and spirituality that the Frate Sole Foundation dedicates to the memory and legacy of Father Costantino Ruggeri is thus renewed: a path that invites us to look beyond the image, towards the living relationship between man, the other and the divine.
