The Frate Sole Foundation at the Venice Biennale 2025

Double presence at the 19th International Architecture Exhibition.

The Frate Sole Foundation is participating in the 19th International Architecture Exhibition - La Biennale di Venezia, scheduled from Saturday 10 May to Sunday 23 November 2025,

with a twofold testimony of their commitment to promoting a culture of contemporary sacred architecture, attentive to spirituality, beauty and the environment.

ITALY PAVILION

Visions from the Sea - The Intelligence of Water. Within the project "Terræ Aquæ.

Italy and the intelligence of the sea', the photographic works of Father Costantino Ruggeri, Franciscan artist and spiritual founder of the Frate Sole Foundation, will be exhibited.

This is a collection of photographs taken in 1984 on the shores of the Ligurian Sea, in which Father Costantino, with his faithful Hasselblad camera, captured the beauty in objects carried by the sea and shaped by time.

These phototypes offer unprecedented perspectives and profound reflections on the relationship between places and forms. The images inspire the creation of spaces that feed on visions rich in enchantment, contributing to a reflection on the poetic and spiritual value of matter and water.

The Fondazione Frate Sole proposed this project with the intention of offering visitors a unique visual and poetic experience.

BRAZIL PAVILION

The Brazil Pavilion also sees the presence, albeit indirect, of the Foundation: it hosts the project (RE)INVENTION, curated by the Plano Coletivo collective, consisting of Luciana Saboia, Matheus Seco and Eder Alencar, co-founder of the ARQBR Arquitetos studio in Brasilia.

It was precisely the ARQBR studio that was awarded the Second International Prize for Sacred Architecture in 2024, promoted by the Frate Sole Foundation: an award that today finds ideal continuity in Alencar's participation as co-curator of the Pavilion.

A significant connection, testifying to the international impact of the Prize and the value of an architectural vision attentive to the dialogue between spirituality, environment and culture.
