Fra Costantino, a singer of beauty, celebrated the enchantment of creation with all his artistic works, especially the lead-bound blown antique glass windows. Of it, he favoured the symbol of the sun with the same intonations as St Francis' Canticle of Creatures.
Self-portrait - 1964, Fr. Costantino Ruggeri
"No one has ever sung creation and creatures like St Francis, and yet he, in the Canticle of the Creatures, gives the 'utility' of the elements and times and things all precedence over 'beauty' itself.
This seems to me an extraordinarily evangelical insight, that is, radically existential and vital.
So the true beauty of creation is that which invests us completely, involves us, stimulates us and challenges us again and again; it is the fullness of everything."
